More Waiting

Hello everyone!

A lot of people have been asking, "So when are you leaving for Korea??"  Well, there's not a simple answer.  I received an email from Connexus this week that explains my situation.  The following is a section from that update:

"I feel sad sharing this, but here at Connexus our student numbers are not growing much. We actually lost a couple students this month, due to long vacations, but we're hoping they'll join again in September. Our total student capacity with our current three teachers is 60, and right now we have 36 students...After another month or two, we will update you again about our situation and perhaps then we will be better prepared to make decisions."

So what do I do now? For now I am finishing my paperwork so that I will be prepared to go to Korea when the time comes.
What's the time frame? This is something completely out of my control, and out of the control of Connexus at that.  Everything is dependent upon how many students join the English program in the months ahead.  The program is still new (not yet a year old), so things are very unpredictable right now. It could be 2 months, it could be 6 - we just have to take it one day at a time.
What is next? Yes, I still hope and plan on going to South Korea. But with having no certain idea when I may be needed there, I am coming up with different plans of what to do while waiting. I want to wait actively!  My brainstorming includes work options here at home, local ministries, and maybe evening pursuing student teaching in Knoxville next year.

If I do not have a more definitive idea for Korea in the next month or so, I think I will have to give Connexus a general date that I can come in the future (for example, in the spring semester or when the school year starts again next fall).  So many things are up in the air for me right now, including my retail job which keeps asking how long I am here for..  But I know God is in control, even if I cannot see His plans.  I just want to be used where ever I am - whether at home, in Knoxville or in South Korea!

Thank you all for your continued prayers and encouragement!  I am very blessed because of you.

Seeking Him, ~Katelynn

  1. Appreciate the update and will continue to lift you up in prayer. This is all going to work out according to God's time table and plan for you. I love the idea that you want to "wait actively" - fulfilling the parable Jesus tells in Luke 19:11-27. Hugs!!

  2. I know you are dissapointed and perhaps don't understand why this is put on hold. I'm sorry honey. Trust in the Lord with your whole heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowlege Him and He will make straight your path. God has a wonderful plan for you, to prosper and succeed. Keep your eyes fixed on Him. As you wait, I will continue to pray and also keep my eyes and ears open for possible jobs for you.

  3. Hang in there and call me if you'd like to talk. There is definitely a reason that you are not supposed to be there right now. I want you to share your gifts with a completely legitimate, professional, and prepared program. Maybe teaching in another country and doing this type of work is supposed to happen, but not here. You can totally put your degree to work until then, and then you'll only be more prepared to teach in this type of situation. Your first year teacher fears coupled with the fears of the new culture do not have to be a double wammie now! Trust me, I'm so overwhelmed and blown away where I am now. Bottom line- God loves. He will never leave you. The world is your oyster again! Have fun searching for new opportunities.

  4. Dear Kate,
I admire your strength through the delays in your plans. Your outlook and search of His Word to exercise your patience and grace are absolutely refreshing. My prayer for you is that you would remain faithful to Him through these delays that are not out of His grasp and could very well be His way to test, train and prepare you for what He has ahead for you to accomplish. Don’t grow tired or forget what He has done for you in the past. I love The Message version of Psalm 103:12 O my soul, bless GOD. From head to toe, I'll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless GOD, don't forget a single blessing!
I’m thankful to have a younger, yet wise friend and sister in Christ in you. Press on!
